Adding Decorative Wall Plates for Dimension

decorative wall platesIn decorating walls, add a bit of dimension.  How do you do this?  One way is to add decorative wall plates.  Plates come in different sizes and shapes.  I have seen beautiful artistic large plates and simple smaller round plates.  Some even have a wood frame around them.  Hang them individually or in groupings depending on the area that is available.

If you have a collection of decorative plates you can create a pattern on the wall making for an interesting design.  Adding just one plate above a small table will add interest.  Mixing one or more plates on a wall with pictures will enhance its appeal. There are plate hangers that allow for easy hanging of one or several plates adding even more décor.  Whichever way you choose, have fun and don’t be afraid to mix it up a bit.

Entertaining in a Beachside Home

Buying a house near water can represent a sizeable investment, but when you consider all of the positive aspects of the experience it’s almost always worth it. For one thing, beachside homes are ideal spots for entertaining guests. Where most hosts have to work hard just to keep their guests comfortable and interested, the lakeside homeowner can let her location and decorations do most of the work.

Just mount a nautical welcome sign in the front entryway and start the party with a little tour. Most guests will be eager to spend time close to the roaring surf, especially if the weather is cooperative. If possible, serve dinner outside in the warm air or at least provide a dazzling view of the shore. By the time they leave, your guests will be just as enthralled with the home as they are charmed by your gracious hosting abilities.

Bottlenose Dolphin Migratory Patterns

Dolphin home décor is replicated out of true features of a dolphin.  So, does it make you wonder about dolphin behaviors?  One of the most common types of dolphin is the bottlenose dolphin, and because of this, it’s most interesting to study their behavioral patterns.

Its common to think of the different migratory patterns of animals, especially sea animals, in relation to the seasons.  However, the truth is, bottlenose dolphins do not migrate the way most animals do.  In fact, they don’t technically migrate at all.  Migration refers to the movement of an entire species from one geographical location to another.  However, bottlenose dolphins do not move as a species, but rather individual choices within the pod.  They also do not completely change geographical location.

Instead of migration, bottlenose dolphins “move”.  They travel up and down the coastline, sometimes at great distances, to find and follow food.  During movement, some dolphins move great lengths; others barely relocate.  This is why in any season its possible to see a dolphin at the beach.

Accent Tables and Night Stands

accent tablesAccent tables are great additions to a bedroom.  Because finding a night stand that is the right size and color can be difficult, using accent tables instead is a great alternative for any small space next to a bed.  In addition, accent tables make great night stands because of their versatility.  Many accent tables include a lamp, therefore making it unnecessary to find alternate lighting.  They also usually have enough room to place a clock, book, glasses, and a drink on them as well.

My night stand is an accent table that includes a floor lamp.  Its perfect because it gives off ample lighting while also giving me a place to put things next to my bed.  The table also has enough room to allow for decoration accents as well.  And, there is a table to mach and fit any room.

The Perfect Welcome Signs

welcome signs

Have you ever seen welcome signs that just don’t seem welcoming?  I have.  These signs are lacking the pizzazz and comfort that welcome signs should have.  They need to be friendly and inviting.  They need to show people who see the signs that they really are welcome there.

Great ways to make sure that welcome signs are welcoming are:

  • have fun, bright colors
  • use warm patterns, like florals
  • use big, bubbly writing
  • make sure they are the first things seen

Now that you know what makes good welcome signs, your guests are sure to feel welcomed every time they arrive.

A Memory

glass figurineA glass figurine can be a great keepsake memory.  When I was really little, only about six years old, my great-grandmother gave me a glass chicken, and now when I look at that chicken I always think of her.  This chicken was the first figurine that made me start collecting figurines from different places I visited as memories of the trip.

Having a collection of these figurines became a great hobby for me.  I was always enthusiastic about finding the perfect figurine to add to my collection.  It never mattered what the style was, as long as it was something I could remember the place by.  Sometimes I would get a bell, others an animal.  But, no matter what the figurine was, it always gave me the perfect memory of that trip.

The Almost Floating Chair

A hammock chair must be one of the best ways to sit and relax.  Suspended above the ground, these chairs are a great way to kick back.  Because they are not stationary, these chairs are a cross between a hammock and a swing.  They have the comfort and material of a hammock with all of the fun of a swing, while still being practical.

Because they can be placed anywhere with an awning or ceiling, these chairs are very versatile.  They are great to just spend a lazy afternoon in and take a nap.  Or, you can perch yourself in one of these floating chairs and read a book.  If you have a young child, they also make great swings as long as you are careful.  The chairs are ideal for anyone who wants the comfort of a hammock and the practicality of a chair.

Fit for the Ocean

dolphin home decorAn easy way to transform any room in your home into a marine-tastic location is with simple dolphin home décor and other aquatic figurines.  If you have young children, a great place to turn into an aquatic wonderland is your child’s bathroom.  Its easy to transform bath time into fun time with marine friends.

Many children hate bath time.  They run around and stall and do everything possible to avoid it.  So, to make bath time fun for you and your youngster, add blue colored beads to the water to make it look like the ocean and get bath toys that resemble your child’s favorite marine creatures.  By decorating the bathroom in an aquatic fashion, your child will surely feel like bath time is a trip to the beach!

Hand-Painted Wall Art

decorative wall platesHand-painted decorative wall plates make great décor for your kitchen or dining room.    These intricately painted treasures make great and beautiful additions to your walls.  Hand-painted plates come in a variety of styles.  Some depict colorful natural scenes, like the beach or a hillside.  Others have flowers or crazy designs.  There is something for every taste.

Some of these plates are not only done by hand, but by fingers.  These plates are given textures because they are finger painted.  But, unlike a toddler’s finger paintings, these plates are marvelous.  The colors are bright and vibrant and the scenes depicted are incredible.  It takes a lot of skill to be able to paint that way.

My Wooden Garden Furniture Swing

Everyone has a favorite spot in their home, some have more than one.  For some people its a certain place on the couch.  For some its a arm chair.  Others its their bedroom.  One of my favorite spots is in my garden.

My parents bought wooden garden furniture to furnish our backyard; included in that furniture was a swing.  That swing, in the cool, shaded corner of the backyard, was my favorite spot.  I would spend hours sitting out there just reading a book and taking in the serenity of the birds chirping and the calm breeze.  When I need to escape, I think back to that swing.
